BARRY KEOGHAN ROSE to fame a few years ago as Wayne, the babyfaced cat killer from Love/Hate.

The young Dubliner has since landed roles in Irish films like ’71, Life’s A Breeze, Traders and Mammal, as well as RTÉ One’s 1916 series Rebellion.

2017 looks to be the year that Keoghan will make his mark with roles in two of the most buzzed-about films of the year, Dunkirk and The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

Keoghan will be represented at the Cannes Film Festival later this month by The Killing of a Sacred Deer, a drama starring Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman.

The film is directed by Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, who was Oscar-nominated earlier this year for his work on The Lobster. Here’s the blurb:

THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER sees Colin Farrell reunite with Lanthimos. Farrell stars as Steven, a charismatic surgeon forced to make an unthinkable sacrifice after his life starts to fall apart when the behaviour of a teenage boy he has taken under his wing takes a sinister turn.

Elsewhere, Keoghan will be seen in Christopher Nolan’s World War 2 epic Dunkirk alongside the likes of Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance and, er, Harry Styles.

The film’s trailer dropped this afternoon and we were afforded a glimpse of Keoghan in action.

And it appears that he’s picking up steam in Hollywood. Earlier this week, the young actor shared a video of someone from venerable industry magazine The Hollywood Reporter visiting him in Summerhill.

Unreal.

Finally, Keoghan is due to star in American Animals, a heist movie starring this big group of lads.

MIDDLE FINGERS UP, TELL THAT BOY BYE.

‘Tis far from killing cats on Love/Hate anyway…
